Karsilamas/Aptalikos, Lesvos
A group of local dancers perform the Lesvos Aptalikos (Karsilamas) at the Sardine Festival in Kalloni, Lesvos (3rd August 2007). Even though the dancers start with the slow steps, it sounds to me like this is beginning in the middle of the musical measure and, so, should really be called Aptalikos. However, the dance Karsilamas and Aptalikos are almost exactly the same. This was posted by Christopher Copeman. Go to "Christopher Copeman's Greek Dance Notebook" for a very interesting discussion of Greek dancing on the island of Lesvos, Greece.
